In the late 1960's, America was in great distress. We were in the midst of the Vietnam War, race riots were occuring nationwide, and Winneconne, Wisconsin attempted to seceded from the nation. But right in the middle of the Jim Crow South, Jim Green was able to graduate from high school, earn a track & field scholarship to the University of Kentucky and become the first African-American athlete to graduate from the University. My name is Kristen Smith and I am a sophomore at the University of Kentucky. I have done extensive research on Mr. Green and I plan to share my findings via this website.
